Asian Sticky Pork Belly Slices

Juice and zest of half a lime

  • 1/3 cup Soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup Hoisin sauce

  • 2tbs Honey

  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice

  • 1tbs Shaoxing wine

  • 2tbs toasted sesame oil

  • 3 spring onions chopped finely

  • 1 red chilli sliced finely

  • 3 cloves of garlic sliced finely

  • A thumb sized piece of ginger (grated)

  • 1tbs sesame seeds

  • Lots of salt and pepper

  • 8 pork belly slices

Combine the following ingredients in a large bowl and allow to marinade for 3-4 hours (overnight would be even better)

Remove the pork belly slices from the marinade(reserve the excess marinade for basting) and lie on a roasting tray. Place in a low oven at 170 for 45 minutes, rotating half way though cooking time and glazing with the excess marinade every ten minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to rest while making stir fried noodles of your choice. I like mine with lots of veggies and a splash of soy, lime juice and sesame oil. There top with the pork belly slices, chopped spring onions, fresh lime wedges and fresh coriander (if you don’t hate the stuff).
